With an upgrade to the much loved and dependable flat-twin boxer engine that has powered both bikes for more than 35 years, we are thrilled to see a whole new level of power, performance and efficiency thanks to BMW ShiftCam technology. Along with the new advanced boxer engine, both the R 1250 GS and R 1250 RT offer a host of other new updates designed to make each ride more enjoyable. With the new advanced boxer engine providing an increase of power and torque, as well as improved emission and fuel consumption, the new BMW R 1250 GS and the new BMW R 1250 RT offer a noticeably enhanced refinement and running smoothness. In addition, the camshaft drive of the engine has been updated with a toothed chain, instead of the previous roller chain, twin-jet injection valves, and a new exhaust system.
Several riding modes are available on both bikes, with two coming standard in order for each rider to easily adapt to their riding preferences: Automatic Stability Control and Hill Start Control. There is also the optional Riding Modes Pro that offers several other riding modes. The R 1250 RT also comes with the electronic suspension Dynamic ESA “Next Generation,” which results in optimum damping comfort and stable ride response.
Not only does the new BMW R 1250 series impress in power and performance, it also checks all the boxes under style, comfort, and convenience. Along with new striking colors and style variants, the available BMW Motorrad Spezial offers iconic high-quality customization features that can raise performance and value. These features include exclusive seats, wheels, paint finishes, and other equipment options.
No need to worry about connectivity issues while on the road either, as each bike is equipped with a large TFT color screen, while the R 1250 GS also includes the standard BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller, which allows riders to easily access vehicle and connectivity functions. And when it comes to rider safety, the R 1250 GS comes standard with the LED headlamp, while LED daytime riding lights are available additions to both bikes. Another optional equipment feature is the Intelligent Emergency Call, which can quickly call for assistance in the event of an accident or emergency situation.
